All trips leave 9:00am sharp at rear of Services Club - be there in time to meet your trip leader before the convoy leaves.

The Minerama committee is always thinking of ways to make the event more fun and rewarding for both visitors and locals alike. Features of Minerama in 2010 included.

Brag Board

The Brag Board was introduced in 2008 and proved to be very popular. Review of the field trip tickets revealed that plenty of valuable gems were found by those willing to put in the hard work. The Brag Board will run again in 2011 so make sure you fill out those lucky Field Trip tickets for your chance to win CASH!!

Every fossicker likes to tell people what they found even if some are a bit cagey about where they found it. And the unsuccessful fossickers like to know that others were lucky even if their sieves came up short. Our new “Brag Board” gives everyone the opportunity to list their finds for all to see. If you had a great time on one of our fossicking trips, we want to know about it!!

Every Field Trip ticket now includes a free entry to our lucky prize draw – simply fill out your details and a brief description of your finds for a chance to win one of ten draws for $20. It doesn’t matter what or how much you found - just tell us about it and you could win a cash prize. The Cash Giveaway is proudly sponsored by the Aussie Lapidary Forum.

Tickets must be entered into the prize barrel by 5:00pm in the auditorium for a 5:30pm draw. You must be present to claim your cash prize – tickets will be drawn until we find enough winners so the odds are good just by entering. Lucky draws will be made on both Friday and Saturday afternoon for a total of $ ???to be given away.

Minerama Raffle

Details to be confirmed for 2011: This year’s raffle is bigger and better than ever before with BP Fuel Cards to be given away. Raffle tickets will be on sale at Minerama and selected local businesses for just $2 each.

Lucky Door Prize

Details to be confirmed for 2011: Of course, not all of our visitors go fossicking so we have a lucky door prize for those visitors who would rather not get their hands dirty. Free entry for a chance to win ??????????just fill in your details and drop your ticket in the barrel at the information desk.

Winners will be notified by phone and details published in the Glen Innes Examiner subsequently. The raffle and lucky door prizes will be drawn on Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm so don’t miss this great opportunity.

The Mystery "Salt & Pepper" Field Trip

The "Salt & Pepper" trip last year was amazingly popular with families and those new to fossicking and by popular request will run again in 2011. This field trip runs to a mystery location and features easy-digging sapphire wash that has been "enhanced" in order to provide a fun and rewarding experience for both families and beginners.

If you are an experienced fossicker, we suggest that the other field trips will provide a more authentic experience and we request that you leave this one for the beginners. Everyone needs to start somewhere and this is aimed at generating a whole new bunch of keen gem-hunters. Minerama will continue to offer a great range of field trips for those looking for those rare gems in out of the way locations. Hope to see you there.
